Al & Imo’s Good Day House: Velux Skylights Install with Custom Flashings

The Skylight Warehouse was thrilled to collaborate with Al & Imo on their Good Day House project — a stunning room transformation that prioritises warmth, light, and liveability. Bringing more sunshine into the space was a key goal, and together, we helped turn that vision into reality with the installation of VELUX skylights and our custom base flashings, designed to suit their pitched roof perfectly.

When we started designing the Good Day House, we always knew natural light would play a huge role in how the space felt. While our LED light panels were practical, we found ourselves craving the warmth of the sun during the day, the stars at night so we decided to swap them out Velux Skylights from The Skylight Warehouse.

We installed four VELUX FS Fixed Skylights, each measuring 780 x 1180mm, on our pitched Colorbond roof. These skylights were the perfect size to fit neatly between our roof trusses, which made the install much more straightforward and avoided the need for any major structural changes.

We ordered them through The Skylight Warehouse and used their pre-fabricated Custom Base Flashing for Pitched Roofs, which is designed to suit roofs like ours and made the whole process smoother. They’ll even match your Colorbond roof colour (ours is Night Sky).

Al took on the install himself (no surprises there!) and followed all the proper safety steps to get the job done right. we used up every last piece of leftover TouchWood timber lining from our build to box out the skylights, making them feel like they’ve always been part of the house.Now when we’re cooking in the kitchen or sitting on the couch, we can actually feel the sun on our skin — and at night, we get a little window to the stars. It’s one of those upgrades that adds so much beauty and functionality and honestly it’s made a huge difference to how the space feels.
