What is skylight flashing?

What is skylight flashing?

What is skylight flashing and do I need it?

A crucial part of any skylight installation is the flashing system which is used to surround the skylight in the roof. The flashing is used as a way to ensure your skylight is waterproof.

The type of flashing you need depends on the type of material used on your roof and the pitch of your roof. Shire Skylights manufacture a pitch adaptor base flashing to suit the entire VELUX range, this will ensure the weatherproof integrity of your VELUX skylight.

All Shire skylights flat roof base flashings are made from .55bmt Colorbond Steel, unlike other suppliers who use a powder coating process which fades and deteriorates over time. All bases are pre-fabricated ready to install, with all joins polyurethane sealed and pop riveted. We stock all standard Colorbond colours.
